Pulau Aman, Penang Island


Assalamualaikum w.b.t.. Hello everyone. My entry today is about Pulau Aman. Have you guys been there?
Pulau Aman is a small island in Penang, Malaysia. It is located off the coast of Bukit Tambun, Seberang Perai. It is famously known as Island of Peace. It is also a home of traditional malay village. They are simple, traditional, and friendly and live with harmony.
Visitor can catch a boat to Pulau Aman from Bukit Tambun (the nearby town located at the mainland). The boat departs to Pulau Aman at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm.  The fare is about RM6.
The accommodations at there are Chalet, Bougain Villa Chalet. Malaysia Tourism Ministry is promoting Homestay programme. In the island there are approximately 20 homestays to let you experience the daily life of local folks.
Every place having theirs owns food, Same as Pulau Aman. One of the popular dishes here is “Mee Udang” (Prawn Noodles), in Malay cooking style with heavy soup gravy. The restaurant is located right at the village boat jetty. You may also try the “Sukun” cracker, made of the local fruit “Buah Sukun”. Pulau Aman’s well known for having the oldest sukun tree in Malaysia.

There are many interesting place to visit in Pulau Aman such as Telaga Emas, Batu Perompak and also nearby island Pulau Gedong. It is said that Pulau Aman and Pulau Gedung were once owned by two brothers named Mr. Md Saad and his older brother. Saad died at the age of 99. ‘Telaga Emas’ – the water’s well that never runs dry even during drought.  Batu Perompak’ – literally means “Pirate’s rock”. It was the haunt of pirates in the olden days. There is an old grave at the top of the hill, believed to be the resting place of Panglima Garang, a pirate chief. “Gua Lanun” – literally means “Pirate’s cave”. It is located near the beach of Pulau Gedong.
