Hi everyone!! today i would like to share with you about Independence Day in Malaysia. in bahasa we called it Hari Kemerdekaan. independence day is  commemorating the independence of the Federation of Malaya from British colonial rule in 1957. it is celebrated every 31 august every year. my birthday also on 31 august, hehe... i'm so proud born on that date =)

i will tell you the history of independece day. The effort for independence was spearheaded by Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, who led a delegation of ministers and political leaders of Malaya in negotiations with the British in London for Merdeka, along with the first president of the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA) Tun Dato Sir Tan Cheng Lock and fifth President of Malaysian Indian Congress Tun V.T. Sambanthan. at the night of 30 august 1957 many people gathered at the Royal Selangor Club Padang in Kuala Lumpur, and the Union Flag was lowered. The new Flag of Malaya was raised as the national and Negaraku song was played. This was followed by seven chants of 'Merdeka' by the crowd.Tunku Abdul Rahman gave a speech hailing the ceremony.

now, after 55th year of malaysia independence we are still practising and celebrating every year with full of patriotism spirit. Each year, there will be a different theme for the Merdeka celebration. the latest theme is This theme is in conjunction with the concept of 1Malaysia, touted by the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak. All Malaysians are urged to embrace the concept of transformation which brings about a meaningful process of innovation that can benefit the people.  It will also help continue the process of producing a vibrant young generation. During the Merdeka month, the Malaysians will also show their patriotism towards the country by raising the Malaysian flag wherever possible  along the streets, houses, office premises and also vehicles. the flag is selling at market,petrol station and many shops and even some shops will give it free as awareness to show patriotism.

on the morning of merdeka day around 7.am people will gathered at dataran merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. This national festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in all over the country. The Jalur Germilang (The Malaysian Flag) is hoisted throughout the country. On this day many political leaders appear at the public events and talk about the nation's heritage, laws, history, people, about recent events and future projects.

The National Day is considered as a Public Day with outings, picnics and lots of outdoor events like parades, air shows, fireworks and musical concerts. Parades generally occur in the morning and the fireworks occur in the evening. basically  people from many schools,universities, academies, associations takes part to success this event. there are also have decorated car with colourful. it is so beautiful. some of them decorate the car with many colour of flowers. 

The people of Malaysia proudly fly their Flag, sing songs and enjoy the day with their friends and families. i really enjoy this moment i hope this phenomena of Merdeka celebration will continuously in society so patriotism will always remained in our heart and understand the meaning of Independence.
